Unified "Help Me Choose A Phone" Thread

  • Guys anong phone ang pinaka sulit under 10k?
I'm choosing between G2 Mini at Xiaomi Mi 3. May iba pa bang phones ang sulit under 10k? Second hand or brandnew, as long na complete yung package. Pang gift ko kasi. Thanks!

I have a G2 Mini as a back up phone. Very, very good battery life, but dim display with no auto brightness (no light sensor). Got it particularly for its battery life and easy form factor (tap to unlock, easy to use with one hand). Would honestly go with a Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 if battery life isn't the highest priority. But if the recipient is just a casual user, I'd get the Mi 3. Doesn't have expandable storage and the built-in 16 GB should be plenty for all those pictures. The Mi 3's display, camera and build quality should wow your casual recipient. It's the closest thing to an iPhone without actually getting an iPhone. You should also consider the RedMi 1S which is coming out next week, but aside from its specs (comparable to G2 Mini and Grand 2) and MIUI, its design is rather bare. Recipient might not find it too fancy.

Edit: Also, +1 for the ASUS Zenfone 5. Comes in different colors and has specs to beat the phones I mentioned except the Mi 3. Problem is the battery life won't be as good as the phones I mentioned since they use the latest Snapdragon. The Zenfone 5 uses an Intel. Great performance, but not as efficient.

  • pa help naman!

moto g, mi3, or oks din ba rio lite??

need ko lang matagal na batt life and wala hassle (root, sd transfer, etc)

    tia!
  • ^ MI3 na sir
  • @Kestana - Thank you sir! Very informative post. Hehe. Kidding aside. Mas pinili ko kasi yung aesthetics at battery over specs. Mom ko lang naman kasi gagamit. Pero kung ako lang gagamit, I'd go for Mi 3. Bang for the buck talaga. Thank you ulit sir! Sa uulitin. :)
  • @dxrolla - Mi 3 sir. Pinaka sulit yun sa choices mo. Madami pang accesories.
  • looking for a dual core phone at least 4", IPS and OTG gagamitin ko sana sa project na mini arcade box so parang pic sa baba
    3-4k budget ips din sana

    TIA

  • Which should I get. Asus Zenphone 5, Xiaomi Redmi Note or Xiaomi Redmi 1S? And where can I get Redmi Note locally?
  • @hakz @razrzxcvbnm- tanx so much po!
  • skeith1002 - I'd get the redmi note, personal preference. it's bigger and priced ok. Pwede din MI3 kung kakasya budget and/or masyadong malaki ung note
  • Hindi pa officially released ang Redmi Note satin so walang official warranty if ever may makuha ka which is pahirapan din.
  • @kestana
    wow mura naman nyan!
  • Ano pinaka murang lte phone ngayon. Kahit mga 4 inch screen. Looking for one. Thanks

    Choices:
    Samsung s5
    Lg g3
    Samsung note 4(hintayin nalang)
    Sony z3(medyo malaking bezel,sayang screen)
    Other suggestions?

  • Go with Samsung. Laging una sa latest specs. Note 4 second lang sa S5 na naka Snapdragon 805. High tech talaga Samsung.

Note 4 na kung may budget naman.
  • Asus Zenfone 5 or Xiaomi Redmi 1s? TIA
  • What's the best smartphone you can recommend under 5,000 pesos?

all li-ion batteries have a limited lifespan, a limited number of charge cycles. A wifi hotspot will (unless palaging naka charge) of course eat battery life so pwede na sa isang araw 2-4 times ka mag low batt and mapilitan ka i plug sa charger. So 2-4 times mas maiksi ang lifespan

another issue with li-ion is that aside from the limited number of charge cycles it degrades by itself whether its being used or unused, kahit naka seal pa sa plastic packaging from the manufacturer. This degradation is a chemical reaction and is accelerated by the temperature. Given a battery that is fully charged and cellphone that is plugged into a charger, if the cellphone is on standby the battery temp will be low while in the same situation a cellphone acting as a wifi hotspot will have a warmer battery. This is simply because even an inactive not charging battery gets warmer if katabi siya ng isang active and warm component. Unless of course the phone is designed na hindi magkatabi ang wifi/cpu and battery.

so theoretically meron possible danger if non replacable ang battery. However I assume that, like in iphones, the battery of a zenphone can actually be replaced if you send it to the service center

para minimal ang danger, just buy a cheap android phone iwth a replacable batt. if masira man ang battery after heavy use either replace the batt or buy some rubber bands and a power bank

secondary phone din. since getting an iPad lahat ng productivity (browsing, email, etc) dun ko na ginagawa. yung phone more on call and text lang talaga. nung nasira nokia ko, decided to get an iPhone para lang magamit ko rin yung apps na nabili ko na from the Apple Store for my iPad. pero parang gusto ko naman sumubok ng Android ngayon hehe
  • I've been an apple user for the last 5 years, planning to buy LG G3 or the galaxy s5. Will it be hard for me to adjust since I've been into apple? I'm sick with the upgrades of apple from time to time. This time I am not hype. I am using An Iphone 5s as of now, battery sucks!! and I can't even maximize its capabilities just SMS and calling. Btw, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.

Would I choose LG G3 or Samsung Galaxy S5?? Budget wise, Performance and others. Thank you for your comments.
