Picking up International Parcels from Post Office

  • hi guys,

yung seller pinadal via USPS parcel service

    sana may maka tulong. Thanks.

  • ^Ako sir nagpadala ng installers from Isle of Man (Ubuntu Linux), binayaran ko sa post office is less than Php50 lang.
  • powercycle - I've been buying items from abroad using eBay and Amazon ever since. so here's my take.

    re: taxes and customs fees

it will largely depend on the value of the item. if it's less than 100 USD, I usually pay Php 40 for the PhilPost releasing fee and of course, I get a receipt for that.

if it's more than 100 USD, expect to be taxed. usually this is how they usually compute the landed cost:

total USD value of parcel x 10% customs dues
    +
total USD value of parcel x 12% VAT
    +
    PhP 750 customs miscellaneous fees
    +
    PhP 40 PhilPost releasing fee

the last item that made me pay/bleed so much was when I imported fountain pens from France. the pens amounted to USD 500. do the math as to how much I had to pay. I asked for a receipt, of course.

whenever I buy from Amazon though, I course through my packages to Johnny Air New Jersey office so that when my items arrive here, I wont have to deal with the PhilPost and I have the option to pick it up or have them deliver my package/s to me.

  • @Sui

Thanks for you very informative answer.

The total amount of the items were 60$ which included USPS priority mail fee.

So i should expect to pay only the 40ish pesos releasing fee right?
  • dvd naman sakin from hawaii...

Less than $11 yung value nung item ko, tapos umabot sa $71 dahil sa mahal ng shipping and handling. Kung magko-compute ba ang customs, kasama pati yung shipping and handling fee?

    Update:
I found the formula sa Customs website
Customs duty + VAT+ Documentary stamp + Import processing fee
= umabot ng less than PHP1300.00 yung babayaran ko.

This is if hindi mangyayari sakin yung less than $100 na value exemption.

  • sana yun nga lang ang i charge sayo. Minsan garapalan talaga sa customs. Buti di napunta yung package mo sa philpost office opposite cebu pacific aitport. Sobra taga silamag tax dun.
  • i already had 2 small parcels from hongkong... cables and electronics parts. for both, i only paid 40 pesos each.

  • The people at the Post Office can be really nice, but you also have to be nice yourself. Be friendly. Nung nagpunta ako dati to pick up a small package from Taiwan, imbis na pagbayarin ako, pinapirma lang ako ng papers para indicate na "gift" sya kaya walang tax or whatever. Nakuha ko yung package ng libre.
  • Update: Nagpaka-proactive na ako. Tumawag ako sa Taguig Post Office. Nasa PO na raw nila yung parcel. Wish me good luck mga ka-TCP.

  • Update:

Naka-arrange by date of arrival, so dapat alam mo mga kelan pwede i-expect sa Taguig yung parcel. Magulo yung log book.

Naready mo sarili mo sa lagat except for the item you bought. Heheheh!!!
